Welcome back to the New York State Fair! Unfortunately, we have to wait a little longer since the gates now open at noon. If the absence of that tradition bums you out, head over to the Family Fun Zone for the first round of pig races. These porkers go at it three times each day noon, 3 p. You might have to show your student ID or prove that you fall within that age range, so come prepared.

If you need another reason to go, head to the Llama Barn right when the gates open at 11 a. There you can walk a llama, witness leaping llamas, and you can help with llama limbo. All emergency services workers current or retired get in free. Just show a badge or department ID.

Show everyone how strong you are by entering the hay bale throwing contest in the Beef Barn. The competition starts at 11 a. The premise is simple: see who can toss a load of hay the farthest. Winners receive an official State Fair ribbon.
